Morphe Ad Block and Background Playback

Ad blocking and background playback are the two patches most patchers enable first. Set them, test one item, and enjoy every session after it.

What These Patches Do

Ad blocking removes video ads, banner ads and sponsored interruptions from the patched app, so playback starts at the content instead of at an advertisement. Background playback lets audio keep playing when the screen goes off or when another app comes to the front, which turns a video app into a music player and a music app into a pocket radio. This page is part of the Morphe app patching collection.

Together they change every session. A commute becomes listening without a subscription, a workout becomes music without unlocking the phone, and a long video becomes viewing without ad breaks. That is why these two patches are switched on before any other in most patch sets.

Enabling Them

In Simple mode both are part of the curated defaults for video and music, so a first patch usually includes them already. In Expert mode, find the ad blocking patch and the background playback patch in the list for the target app, switch both on, and run the patch. Test with one video or song and the screen off: if playback continues, both patches applied.

If background playback is the goal for music, also switch on audio only mode where the patch list offers it. Audio only mode skips video streams entirely, which saves data and battery on every track, and it pairs naturally with background playback.

For the next step, see Morphe SponsorBlock and Return Dislike in the guides, which continues this setup from where this page leaves off.

When They Do Not Work

If ads remain, the ad blocking patch was off, the patch run skipped it because the target app file version mismatched, or the patched copy in use is the stock app, not the patched one. Check the icon and name, check the patch list, and patch again with the right file if patches were skipped.

If playback stops with the screen off, background playback was off, the phone battery optimisation killed the patched app, or the test used the stock app. Exempt the patched app from battery optimisation, confirm the patch is on, and test the patched copy, not the original.

Conclusion

Ad blocking and background playback are the foundation of most patch sets. Enable both, test one item with the screen off, and check the patched copy, not the stock app, when either one seems missing.
